Summer harvest
So Summer Solstice has past and its time to lift the garlic.
I have already had 4 wet bulbs but have left these 15 to dry in the greenhouse, as we have had a weekend of rain-finally.
I will now lime the bed the garlic came out ready for my winter/spring brassicas.
I have harvested my first earliest duke of York reds and got 2 1\2 lb of spuds. Peas, man get out, broccoli, kale, chard, pak choice, spinach, beets are coming in daily.
Less bountiful are my carrots which are still very thin, my French beans are not growing and I have lost my lettuce crop some to bolting and the young crop to my own ducks who found a weak section of fence and took advantage, oh well least I get tasty eggs from this thieves.
In the fruit garden, the raspberries are still coming, and the blueberries and currants are ready as well. The apples and plums are swelling nicely as well.
In all it looks a good year in my little piece of paradise, hope yours is as blessed.

How many ducks have you got , we have three two females and one male, we think there are ducklings on the way. Have you had ducklings before ? If yes I will need some advice please
ReplyDeleteI have 3 female ducks so no chicks for me - I don't think I would let them go to new homes and I don't have the space for loads of ducks.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a female sitting on eggs I Know it takes roughly 28 days to hatch, and they will need chick crumb as pellets are to big for them. What breed of duck do you have?
