Mulch, Mulch, and Mulch so more
So today I spent a couple of hours generally weeding and mulching the patch while singing along to Elaine Page on radio 2. Things have started to pick up here on the east coast we are getting fairly steady temperatures thought still abit lower than normal not that has slowed the weeds or aphids a bit.
All my fruit bushes have flowers or fruit so looks like its a good year for them, my apple and plums have fruit developing, the cherry did have some but they seem to have stayed small and look to be turning brown! Some sort of disease I think, as i had plenty of blossom and insects were about.
So apart from keeping on top of things, I have a new project in the form of an old cat pen (used to foster cats for RSPCA) which is no longer used. I have taken over and turning into a potting shed, already planning to paint it and plant a passion flower to grow over it.
Also want to try and keep the crops coming but sowing later this month and again in July and August as i want to keep that hungry gap to a minimum.

Nice clean shed. Looking promising. As fellow East Coasters we join you in wishing for warmer, more typical, weather!
ReplyDeletelove the cat shed - looks very tidy and organised too! Unlike my inherited falling down ramshackle mess!
ReplyDeleteThat is an immaculate shed!
ReplyDeleteYour currants and apples are looking luscious too :-)
