Been a while . .
Its been a few weeks since i posted anything here, been very busy settle the ducks in and keeping on top of the harvest. I also got three very nasty bites this year in Aug which had my indoors for a while
Had a very mixed year with harvests, corn, courgettes, cucumbers, carrots, and all my brassicas have done well, tom have been ok, some still to ripen but thankfully no blight on them.
French beans, peas, beetroots, leeks strawberry's have all done poorly or just failed like my parsnips, butternut squashes and all fruit trees.
The season here on the east coast has moved quickly to Autumn so on with the tidy up and the planning for next year (the bit i actually love).
The first thing that went was the old strawberry bed, all plants removed, runners had all ready be potted up. Turned over, and ducks currently eating bugs and fertilizing it for me. I will plant the new plants this weekend fence off from ducks and move on to the next bed for clearing.

Hi. I too love the clearing up and preparing bit. This summer I didn't do so well in the garden although I did have some lovely tomatoes in the greenhouse (which is very small) and a mini greenhouse (even smaller)! It was also the first year for 9 years that our local horticultural society held a show and I won a 1st for a truss of toms and 2nd for a plate of toms.As well as a 2nd for pansies, and a 3rd for a plate of veg, these I entered as a joke - they were so tiny they all fitted on a paper plate - I think the judges felt sorry for me!Lol!
ReplyDeleteWell done for winner prizes, I have never entered anything into a show so am very impressed by your success. I never seem to get my veg to be the same shape, colour etc at the same time.
